If you’re looking for a midrange phone for taking pictures, read this article to discover which of these four models is the best. OnePlus 10 Pro, Honor 20, and Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro are all excellent cameras, but you need to pay attention to your budget too. These devices all have different camera qualities, and we’ve listed the main differences between them below. We recommend you read all our reviews before making a purchase.
Realme 9 Pro Plus
The Realme 9 Pro Plus was launched on March 15, the same day as its predecessor, the realme 9 Pro. It boasts of ProLight Imaging Technology, which consists of a flagship Sony IMX766 sensor with 50MP resolution. Additionally, it has Dual Stabilization System with OIS + EIS, AI Noise Reduction Engine 3.0, and a 64MP triple camera setup. The latter has been fine-tuned to capture high-resolution photos in different lighting conditions.
In terms of camera quality, the Realme 9 Pro+ offers decent photos, but it lacks a telephoto camera. It has an 8MP ultra-wide camera, which captures close-up shots at 4cm. The camera software on this phone is generally decent, and there are several useful options for adjusting the settings to make pictures more attractive. But overall, the Realme 9 Pro Plus midrange phone for shooting photos does not have the best camera in the market.
The battery of the Realme 9 Pro Plus is good, but not outstanding. Its battery can only last about a day under medium usage. If you use your phone moderately, it will last for almost 15 hours, depending on the level of brightness and volume. The camera app is also impressive, and lets you preview and edit images before you buy them. While the phone has a large display, it is still far from perfect for taking pictures.
OnePlus 10 Pro
OnePlus has improved on its flagship OnePlus 6 camera and is now introducing a new 10-bit version of the device. This format is not widely supported by other platforms, including Google Photos. It does, however, have some benefits. For one, night shots are now much better. Moreover, the OnePlus 10 Pro has RAW+ support, which combines three RAW frames to create a high-quality image. Additionally, OnePlus has added the ability to shoot photos in either black and white or color.
If you are serious about shooting photos, the OnePlus 10 Pro is the perfect phone for you. Its 16MP rear camera produces crisp, detailed images, and its 10MP front camera is a step up over its predecessor, the OnePlus 9 Pro. However, it does not support 4K video. For those who prefer to shoot videos, a higher resolution of the front camera is recommended. Its front camera has a 32MP sensor and can record videos up to 1080p at 30fps.
While its rear camera is relatively modest, the OnePlus 10 Pro is a great midrange phone for photography. OnePlus 10 Pro runs on Android 12-based OxygenOS, with less bloat and virtually no spammy notifications. Its customization options are great, with Work Life Balance letting you mute personal apps when working, and Private Safe for privacy. The company promises to keep the phone updated with three major OS updates and four years of security updates.
The Honor 20 has a powerful dual camera set-up, and we were pleased to find that it also has a 32-megapixel front-facing camera. The photos we took with the Honor 20 were sharp and had a decent level of saturation. The camera’s AI system automatically adjusts settings and is also available to switch off. If you need a faster camera, the Honor 20 is the right choice for you.
While the Honor 20 has decent photo quality, it tends to overexpose the images and throw the white balance off when taking pictures with bright colors. The camera does, however, have a dedicated night mode, which improves the clarity and dynamic range of nighttime scenes. Compared to the Honor 10 and Huawei P20 Pro, it’s not a bad choice if you’re looking for a midrange phone with good photos.
Another major flaw with the camera on the Honor 20 is the way it handles low light situations. The Honor 20’s camera struggles to take good pictures in low light, so it resorts to aggressive noise removal and smoothing. The AIS system isn’t the greatest, but it does work well enough to take high-quality photos even under dark conditions. The AI Super Night mode also reduces noise and softens the photos just enough, though the entire process takes a few seconds.
Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro
There are a number of reasons to buy a smartphone with an excellent camera. If you are looking for a phone that will take excellent pictures on a budget, the Xiaomi Mi 9T is a great choice. With its curved glass back, colour-popping accents, and all-screen Super AMOLED display, the Mi 9T is a premium option that doesn’t skimp on features. It also offers HDR support so you can enjoy the rich colours and deep blacks of an image.
While the Pixel 3A is a good option, it doesn’t have the best camera on a budget. Its camera lags behind other phones in zoom and ultrawide-angle rounds. The Honor 20 also performed well in the zoom and ultrawide rounds. Its price tag is a bit high, but overall, it’s one of the best midrange phones for shooting photos. This review is written by Basil Kronfli, a ten-year journalist who works at TechRadar, Gizmodo, and T3. He specialises in computing and smartphones and likes to cook with tech.
If you’re looking for an excellent camera for a decent price, the Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite 5G is an excellent choice. It has the same great macro camera as the Note 10 Pro, and the Mi 11’s battery life is decent. It also has a good ultrawide lens, making it an excellent choice for those who want a great camera at a low price. It’s not perfect, but it’s an excellent option for many people.
Google Pixel 3A
The Google Pixel 3A is a compelling midrange phone that packs premium features at a lower price. Even though it’s cheaper than the Pixel 3, the 3A still packs in many premium features that you’d expect from a top-tier smartphone. It has excellent camera performance and features built by Google’s own photo experts. This phone is a great option for those who want a smartphone with excellent camera capabilities without breaking the bank.
As a photographer, you can’t go wrong with a midrange phone for its camera. All of them offer Full HD screens and smooth interfaces. Most can shoot 4K video. Each camera has its own app and range of shooting modes. For example, the Motorola One Zoom has Night Vision and the Google Pixel camera interface is exclusive to the Pixel series. This camera app has night-sight features for capturing stunning photos.
The camera on the Pixel 3A is impressive. While the camera on the Galaxy Note 10 and iPhone XS Max is superior, the Pixel 3A’s camera is even better. The Pixel 3a’s camera is more impressive than the iPhone X, and its stock Android 9.0 Pie operating system is regularly updated. The camera is also better than the Galaxy Note 10’s, and the phone includes a headphone jack.
Sony Xperia 5 III
If you want a midrange smartphone with a camera that can take excellent pictures in good light, the Sony Xperia 5 III might be the best choice. Its camera uses a high dynamic range system that can capture beautiful colors. This system can take some time to balance the image, so you may find that the sky appears bright blue in some shots, while the rest are overexposed. Fortunately, this issue can be quickly fixed with a tripod.
Despite the camera’s shortcomings, the Xperia 5 III does an acceptable job as a camera. Its shutter release button is positioned well and has two pressure points. Zooming is accomplished with the volume button, though the zoom can be a bit fast. The Xperia 5 III does support 120Hz fast refresh, but it doesn’t support adaptive 120Hz. The result is a decent camera experience, but a low price.
The Sony Xperia 5 III continues to impress. Its slim, compact design is easy to handle. While it’s expensive, it packs most of the premium features of its flagship counterpart, but at a more reasonable price. It also provides excellent dust and water protection and plenty of battery life. That means that it’s a good option if you’re into taking great photos.
